Attending the program on behalf of Cao Bang Province were Mr. Trinh Truong Huy, Provincial Party Committee Member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Sam Viet An, Provincial Party Committee Member and Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; along with leaders of various departments, agencies, and localities, and representatives from travel companies.
Cao Bang boasts abundant natural resources, numerous scenic landscapes, renowned historical sites, and a vibrant cultural identity rich in ethnic diversity. With its geological, geomorphological, archaeological, cultural, and biodiversity values, Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark was recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2018. This recognition is a key factor in opening up opportunities for the sustainable development of community-based tourism, building a strong local brand, attracting tourism and investment, and creating livelihoods for local residents throughout the province.
In recent years, cross-border tourism has received significant attention from the province, resulting in many notable achievements. On October 15, 2024, the Ban Gioc Waterfall (Vietnam) – Detian Waterfall (China) scenic area officially began operations after more than a year of pilot implementation (since September 15, 2023). This marks an important milestone in tourism cooperation between Vietnam and China. The two-nation, two-area cooperation model stands out as a pioneering initiative—unprecedented in cross-border economic collaboration, especially in tourism—aiming to establish a model of cross-border and green tourism.
Additionally, after the Tra Linh (Vietnam) – Longbang (China) was upgraded to international border gate in December 2023, the Cao Bang (Vietnam) – Jingxi City (Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China) tourism program has been as one of the region’s most attractive offering for visitors.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Sầm Việt An, Provincial Party Committee member and Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized that the Cao Bang – Baise cross-border tourism route presents an opportunity to develop and diversify tourism products while enhancing the core value of the culture and tourism sector.
He noted that this exchange and cooperation activity also opens up opportunities for both sides to learn from and share experiences in sustainable tourism management and development; to discuss tourism marketing strategies, tourism governance, and environmental protection; and to maintain cross-border tourism markets and products.
The initiative contributes to promoting the culture and people of both countries, helping to build a distinctive cross-border tourism brand for the two sides. The Cao Bang – Baise tourism route and vice versa is a result of strengthening connectivity between nations and communities.
At the event, delegates, tourists, and local residents were introduced to the cross-border tourism route through an impressive promotional video and an engaging cultural exchange program featuring vibrant artistic performances.
Exhibition booths showcasing tourism products and a photo display highlighting the rich cultural and tourism resources of Cao Bang and Baise drew significant attention from attendees, offering a deeper insight into the abundant tourism potential of both localities.
The cross-border tourism route connecting Cao Bang City (Vietnam) and Baise City (China) is not only a tourism link but also a symbol of sustainable cooperation between Vietnam and China.
With strong commitments from both sides, the route is expected to become a standout tourism product, contributing to the overall development of the border region, benefiting local communities and visitors alike, while reinforcing the friendship, cooperation, and shared prosperity between the two nations.
