DIGITAL MEETING OF VIETNAM GEOPARK NETWORK

On March 11th, 2022, the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark participated in the online meeting of the Vietnam Geopark Network (VGN) to review the activities of UNESCO Global Geoparks in Vietnam in 2021, and discuss the task implementation in 2022.

There were Mr. Guy Martini, Chairperson of the UNESCO Global Geopark Council (UGGpC), Secretary of the Executive Board of the Global Geopark Network (GGN), VGN advisor, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Tan Van, Former Head of the Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources, and representatives of the Management Boards of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark (Ha Giang), Dak Nong Geopark (Dak Nong).

At the meeting, Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Management Board suggested that UNESCO expert, Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources continue to support Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark in the activity implementation regarding geopark development in 2022, including generating the Geopark Development Plan phase 2022-2026, revising revalidation dossiers, advising and coordinating in the project on surveying, researching and evaluating the capacity of Cao Bang to bid for the 8th Asia Pacific Geoparks Network (APGN) Symposium (scheduled in 2024), consulting on building “Geopark pocket museum” at some geopark partners’ establishment and organizing a VGN capacity building workshop in Cao Bang...
VGN advisor made positive comments to the achievements of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark in 2021 as well as activities to be implemented in 2022. It is expected that the VGN advisor and the Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources will conduct a field survey to Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark in April, thereby, proposing essential activities in the preparation for the revalidation mission of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark.
