The United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted in 2015. Its core focuses on 17 sustainable development goals aimed at eradicating hunger, reducing poverty, combating inequality, protecting the planet, and moving towards environmentally friendly development. The Agenda has universal, comprehensive policy coverage, for the benefit of all people in the world and for future generations. Over the years, Global Geoparks have actively implemented activities to achieve sustainable development goals, following a grassroots approach, with the participation of communities in the Geopark area, along with local sustainable development activities and promoting international cooperation. From there, Global Geoparks have become ideal models to realize sustainable development goals, an important connection point, turning international strategies into practical actions at the local level.
