The Global Geopark Network has been effectively contributing to the realization of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in the United Nations 2030 Agenda, especially in areas such as quality education, sustainable economic growth, global partnership and environmental protection.
Not only are they places that preserve unique geological values, global geoparks also play an important role in protecting the environment, promoting sustainable tourism and improving the quality of life for local communities. Through specific activities, the Global Geopark Network has gradually concretized sustainable development goals, notably: organizing educational programs on geology, nature conservation, culture and climate change; cooperating with universities to conduct scientific research and raise public awareness of the value of geological heritage; promoting sustainable geotourism, creating job opportunities for local communities; supporting the training of female workers to participate in tourism business activities, handicraft production and local product development.
In addition, the Global Geopark Network established a platform for connecting countries, research organizations and local communities to share knowledge, enhance capacity and increase the effectiveness of conservation and sustainable development projects. At the same time, it promotes environmentally friendly production methods, encourages the use of sustainable materials, rational waste classification and treatment, protects natural landscapes and raises public awareness of environmental protection.
In the future, with strong cooperation between countries, organizations and local communities, the Global Geopark Network will continue to promote its role as a typical model of geological heritage protection, promote socio-economic development and environmental protection. These joint efforts not only contribute to the implementation of sustainable development goals but also create a model of global cooperation where understanding, creativity and community responsibility contribute to building a sustainable and prosperous future for future generations
