The contest "Preserving the Tay-Nung ethnic language for Secondary and High School students in Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark" is planned to be launched at the end of March 2025.
Participants of the contest are members of the “Geopark Ambassador” clubs from Secondary and High schools in Cao Bang City and the districts of Quang Hoa, Trung Khanh, Ha Lang, Hoa An, Ha Quang, Nguyen Binh and Thach An (in the Geopark territory).
The Contest includes the following parts: reporting activities implemented regarding preserving ethnic languages in schools of “Geopark Ambassador” clubs, communicating about geological, cultural-historical heritage, biodiversity, natural landscapes and touristic attractions in Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark in the Tay-Nung language and raising awareness about commom responisiblity for preserving and promoting Geopark heritage.
The content of entries/performances has to be quality and scientifically accurate while being demonstrated in vivid and attractive ways, bringing about a positive influence in the community and schools.
The Organizing Committee discussed and approved the following documents: Decision on the establishing the Organizing Committee for the Contest, and the draft task assignment to its members, the Plan, Rules, and Criteria of the Contest. During the meeting, members of the Organizing Committee discussed and proposed members for the Board of Judges and Content Committee. They also clarified the purpose, significance, and participants of the contest, and provided input on the contest schedule, rules, formats of contest entries/performances, technical aspects, and communication issues.
Giving closing remarks, Ms. Nong Thi Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism – Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized the importance of clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of the committee members. She also highlighted the close coordination between Departments, units, and schools to ensure effective implementation and shedule of the contest. Additionally, it is necessary to strenthen the communication on social media such as the Provincial Broadcasting and Newspaper and in schools to widely spread the information and attract the strong interst and response of students. She suggested relevant units to proactively follow the plan, ensuring the contest meets its objectives, requirements, and quality standards and motivating students’ learning and creativity.
The contest aims to raise the youth’s awareness and responsibility for preserving ethnic languages and traditional cultural identity. It also contributes to diversifying educational activities on Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark and promotes the learning and use of ethnic languages in schools. The contest is a platform, which provides students with opportunities to gather, learn and develop soft skills, nutures their creativity and enhances their personal competencies. This initiative widely spread the message of ethnic language preservation, contributing to promoting the invaluable heritage of the Geopark.
