Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark responded to International Mountain Day (December 11)

On the evening of December 14, at Kim Dong Walking Street (City), the Management Board of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark organized a propaganda and education program about Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark and responded to International Mountain Day 2024 (December 11).

According to Resolution 57/245 of the United Nations General Assembly, December 11 of each year is chosen as International Mountain Day to raise public awareness of the essential role of mountain resources in human life. At the same time, it encourages people to participate in the conservation, exploitation and use of mountain resources in a reasonable and sustainable manner, contributing to environmental protection and responding to climate change.

On the occasion of the International Mountain Day 2024 with the theme "Mountain solutions for a sustainable future – innovation, adaptation and youth" the Management Board of UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark organized a propaganda and education program about Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark and responded to the International Mountain Day 2024. The program attracted the participation of a large number of people, youth union members, students and tourists in the area.

At the program, visitors had the opportunity to learn about Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, the UNESCO Global Geopark Network, the meaning of International Mountain Day through tourism publications and films introducing the unique values ​​in the Geopark region; visit the beautiful photo exhibition of Mountains in Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, Vietnam Geoparks and some global Geoparks in the world, along with paintings by students of the Sports and Arts Training and Competition Center with the theme of traditional craft village heritage sites. The works vividly have communicated the outstanding geological, natural and cultural values ​​of UNESCO global geoparks.

In particular, the question-and-answer contest and the drawing experience on traditionalpaper received enthusiastic responses and participation from many students. Through this activity, students not only learned about the message of International Mountain Day but also gained a clearer awareness of the role of environmental protection and natural resource conservation.

The program is part of a series of events responding to the activities of the Global Geopark Network in 2024 to widely promote and publicize to the people and tourists the image and value of the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark and the UNESCO Global Geopark Network. Thereby, creating a useful playground for youth union members and students in the area to participate in interesting experiential activities; contributing to raising community awareness of joining hands to preserve and protect the environment and promote heritage values ​​in the UNESCO Cao Bang Global Geopark region; at the same time, spreading the image and tourism potential of the locality to domestic and international tourists.
