Preserving craft villages associated with developing experiential tourism in the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark area

Clearly identifying the role and importance of preserving indigenous cultural values in promoting the potential and strengths of local economy, society, culture and tourism, Cao Bang province has recently focused on preserving traditional craft villages in conjunction with developing experiential tourism. Thereby, leaving visitors with deep impressions in their journey to explore Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark.
To restore and promote the value of traditional craft villages, in 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism directed specialized departments and affiliated units to focus on doing a good job of management, propaganda, training, coaching and raising public awareness about preserving and promoting the value of traditional craft villages associated with tourism development: organizing a class to teach traditional handicrafts of the Tay ethnic group in Ban Giuong, Tien Thanh commune (Quang Hoa); a class to teach brocade weaving of the Tay people in Ngoc Dao commune (Ha Quang); implementing learning activities to exchange experiences on preserving traditional craft villages associated with developing sustainable tourism and community tourism for partners of Geoparks in the two provinces of Lai Chau and Lao Cai.

In addition, the province will increase support for craft establishments and craft villages to participate in promotional programs and trade promotion of OCOP products, craft village products, local specialty products... In 2024, 46 entities will be supported to participate in 22 events and programs in provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Lat, Kon Tum, Bac Lieu... and at the same time invite artisans to participate in product introduction activities at domestic and foreign tourism promotion and promotion events.

With the support of Party committees and local authorities in preserving traditional craft villages in association with tourism development and improving people's livelihoods, a number of community tourism spots and craft village tourist spots have taken advantage of their existing advantages to exploit tourism potential, becoming attractive destinations for tourists, typically: Pac Rang community tourism village, Dia Tren paper village, Phja Thap incense village, Phuc Sen commune (Quang Hoa); Luong Noi brocade weaving factory, Ngoc Dao commune (Ha Quang); Dao Tien weaving factory, Hoa Tham commune (Nguyen Binh).
Here, visitors not only get to visit the peaceful natural scenery but also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the daily life of local people by directly participating in the stages of traditional product production, from brocade weaving, knitting to making agricultural tools... At the same time, explore unique indigenous cultures through cuisine, folk art and traditional festivals... These experiences not only bring novelty and excitement but also help visitors feel the ingenuity and dedication in each product as well as understand more deeply the core cultural values of ethnic groups living in the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark.
