Conference on launching tasks on tourism sector and Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGP in 2021

On March 30th, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a conference on summing up the tourism sector and Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp in 2020, launching tasks for 2021 and signing the Memorandum of Commitment on Establishment of Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark’s partnership.

In 2020, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism directed the Division of Tourism Management and relevant agencies to implement scheduled tasks; organized 2 training courses on tourism skills for owners and employees of tourist accommodation establishments. The total number of tourist arrivals was 617,665, 60.1% lower in comparison with that of 2019; specifically, the number of international tourist arrivals was 12,011, 93.5% lower in comparison with that of 2019, the number of domestic tourist arrivals was 605,654, 55.6% lower in comparison with that of 2019. The gross revenue of tourism sector was 78.115 billion VND, 83.7% lower in comparison with that of 2019. The occupancy rate was 19%. Tourist service providers have been effectively dealing with COVID-19 prevention; till now there are 190 tourist service providers carrying out the registration and declaration of safe tourist destination; mobilized 7 tourist accommodation establishments to be quarantine facilities, 01 accommodation for entry people undergoing isolation…  
The Department advised the Provincial People’s Committee to develop the plan on Non nuoc Cao Bang in 2020; and the plan on welcoming and working with UNESCO experts in Cao Bang; inspected and evaluated the management, protection and exploitation of the infrastructure system of the 3 experience routes in Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp territory; proposed 2 projects on upgrading Pac Bo festival and Ban Gioc waterfall festival, launched the program on “Vietnamese people travel Viet Nam”; decentralized the infrastructure system including information panels, promotion panels, direction panels at heritages sites in Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp territory to the People’s Committee of districts and Cao Bang city for management and protection; implemented the geopark communication and promotion effectively, etc.
In 2021, realizing the slogan “Networking, action and development”, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism continues to consult the Provincial Standing Committee, the Provincial People’s Committee to promulgate programs and plans on developing tourism-service sector in Cao Bang in the period of 2021-2025; carry out programs on domestic tourism stimulation; enhance the effectiveness of state management on tourism, improve business environment, increasing competitive capabilities; effectively deploying government’s supporting policies on tourism enterprises,  organize Non nuoc Cao Bang Festival in Hanoi; organize events to attract tourists to Cao Bang; develop new tourism products, etc.
The Department continues to offer advisory on the development of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp in the phase of 2019 -2022; carry out tasks on Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp development in collaboration with UNESCO experts and the Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources; strengthen the communication and promotion of geological heritage in the geopark territory; widen the geopark’s partner network, supporting geopark products and improving the quality of services of geopark’s partners; pay attention to establish geopark’s partnership, diversifying featured tourism services and products for each experience route; implement schemes on inspection, field survey and development of the 4th experience route in Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp territory, etc.
