Trung Khanh opens the 2024 Cao Vit Gibbon Conservation Day

The natural and climatic conditions of Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark have resulted into a diverse and abundant system of rare flora and fauna species in this area. In addition to the rich flora, Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark also has valuable genetic resources of indigenous domestic and wild animals of special scientific importance and conservation, which are precious genetic resources of wildlife not only for Cao Bang province but also for Viet Nam and the world. Cao Vit Gibbon Conservation Day is a significant cultural event contributing to raising people’s awareness about the Cao Vit Gibbon habitat, protecting forests, biodiversity and rare flora and fauna species. At the same time, the event helps increase local people's pride in this extremely rare gibbon species that currently in Vietnam is only found in Trung Khanh (Cao Bang).

At the festival, interesting and exciting activities took place attracting the attention, support, and participation of a large number of local people such as propaganda skits with rich content, local special performances, cultural exchanges, tug of war, etc. Thereby contributing to raising awareness of people in the area about the protection of forests, environment and wildlife.

Based on the positive results brought about by previously organized Cao Vit Gibbon Conservation Day events, in 2024, the People's Committee of Trung Khanh district decided to coordinate with FFI Vietnam and agencies, departments, branches, and governments of Ngoc Con, Ngoc Khe and Phong Nam communes to organize the "Cao Vit Gibbon Conservation Day" at district-level for the 1st time. The festival is an opportunity to call more widely for organizations and people to join hands to protect forests, the environment, wildlife in general and Cao Vit Gibbon in particular.
