Non Nuoc Cao Bang geopark

Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark is located in the north of Vietnam, 300km from Hanoi Capital, and has an area of 3,000km2. It includes 6 districts: Ha Quang, Tra Linh, Quang Uyen, Trung Khanh, Ha Lang, Phuc Hoa and part of other 3 districts: Hoa An, Binh Nguyen and Thach An. This is home of 9 different ethnic groups, including Tay, Nung, Mong, Kinh, Dao, San Chay…

Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark is an exceptional territory where it is possible to read the history of our Planet Earth for over 500 million years through protected sites. Here, fossils, marine sediments, volcanic and plutonic rocks, and minerals are the witnesses of this fantastic evolution and changes of our Planet and constitute an exceptional geological heritage.

Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark is also land of many tangible and intangible cultural heritage sites, especially historical monuments, of which there are two Special National Monuments: Pac Bo, where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked the early days to lead Vietnam’s revolution; and Tran Hung Dao Forest, where the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army (the predecessor of the present day Vietnam People’s Army) was established. The area is also well-known for its high biological diversity with abundant endemic flora-fauna species and ecosystems.

The three “experience routes” give you an excellent opportunity to discover the Geopark as well as its partners and local population.  Each of these routes can be visited, with guide, in one or two days and constitute a unique and unforgetable Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Experience.

Route 1: Experience Phia Oắc – The mountain of transformations: leads toward the west, with the following stops: ancient ocean, Khai Phát post, beeswax brodery by Đào Tiền people, Tinh Túc tin mine, Lũng Mười and Ban Bố tungsten mines, Phia Đen salmon farm, Kolia tea plantation and the Phia Oắc – Phia Đến National Park and Trần Hưng Đạo special forest special monument, among which the last two stops are the most important. This route has special features that visitors cannot find in any other places in Non Nước Cao Bằng Geopark.

Route 2: Experience history and Freedom: – starts from Cao Bang to the north, with the following stops: De Doong Temple, Nguom Boc cave, King Le Temple, Stone Garden, Nguom Slua, ammonite fossils, Keo Yen panorama, Cao Bang – Tien Yen fault and the Pac Bo Special Monument, and records of President Ho Chi Minh’s activities during 1941-1944. This route also has other historical relics, such as Ban Phu Temple, Na Lu Citadel and King Le Temple, Nung Tri Cao Temple, Kim Dong Tomb. The route of “Experience history and Fredom”, which is a one-day tour, can be the first choice of visitors for Cao Bang.

Route 3- Experience traditional cultures in a wonderland: leads toward the east is a highlight for visitors. Besides mature and senescent karst, visitors can visit the traditional craft villages, traditional festivals special cuisines dishes with ingredients available in the forests include stir-fried bee with baamboo, sour fish hotpot, black sticky rice, stir-fried Tau Quay stone moss. The peaceful lifestyle brings visitors back to nature that is totally opposite to the hustle bustle of urban life. The “Truc Lam Ban Gioc Zen Monastery” Pagoda and Sai Gon-Ban Gioc Resort will nourish your experience after a long day. “Experience of traditional culture in a wonderland” is a one or two-day tour, or can be extended on demand. This route should be done after the prior two ones to fully experience the wonder of the geopark.
