Field survey to map out sustainable development strategy for Hoai Khao village, Quang Thanh commune, Nguyen Binh

From July 13^th to July 15^th, 2021, the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Nguyen Binh District conducted a field survey to collect information for the sustainable tourism development plan on the basis of UNESCO Global Geoparks in Hoai Khao village, Quang Thanh commune, Nguyen Binh.
There were the representative leaders and officers of the Office of Culture and Information of Nguyen Binh District, the representative leaders and officers of the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp, Head of the village, artisans and the elderly of Hoai Khao Village involved in the survey.

According to the schedule, the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp conducted the field survey and collected information regarding traditional customs, beliefs, culture, indigenous knowledge including: traditional rites, Cap Sac rite (maturity rite to acknowledge the mature of a Dao man), traditional festivals, costumes, cuisine, folklore performances, crafts… of Dao Tien (Coin Dao) people living in Hoai Khao village; surveyed and collected information to develop tourism products, set up visiting tours, connect the village with other tourism destinations in Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp territory.

The team also assessed the demands of skills training on accommodation services, food and beverage services, reception, folk art performances, local tour guides … In addition, the team worked with the district leaders and locals on the Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp Management Board’s supports in designing exhibition houses, homestays, landscaping and proposing activities regarding environmental protection, biodiversity and mitigation of tourism activities’ impacts on nature.
