Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark is located in the north of Vietnam, 300km from Hanoi Capital, and has an area of 3,683km². It includes the total area of Cao Bang city, the districts of Quang Hoa, Trung Khanh, Ha Lang and part of the districts of Ha Quang, Hoa An, Nguyen Binh and Thach An. The Geopark is home to different ethnic groups, including Tay, Nung, Mong, Dao, Kinh, Lo Lo, San Chi, etc.
Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark is an exceptional territory in which it’s possible to explore the history of our Planet Earth for over 500 million years through protected sites. Here, fossils, marine sediments, volcanic and plutonic rocks and minerals are witness to the remarkable evolution and changes of our Planet, and they constitute an exceptional geological heritage.
Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark is also a land of many tangible and intangible cultural heritage, especially historical revolutionary monuments, of which there are three Special National Monuments: Pac Bo, where Nguyen Ai Quoc returned to the homeland in 1941 to lead the revolutionary movements after thirty years living abroad to seek for the independence of Vietnam; Tran Hung Dao Forest, where the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army (the predecessor of the present day Vietnam People’s Army) was established by General Vo Nguyen Giap under the instruction of Leader Nguyen Ai Quoc; and the Border Campaign Victory site 1950 in Thach An district which related to the revolutionary life of President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap and marked the maturing of Vietnam People’s Army.
The area is also well-known for its high biological diversity with abundant endemic plant and animal species and ecosystems.
Three "experience routes" give visitors an excellent opportunity to discover the Geopark as well as its partners and the local population.
