Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark participated the digital 9th international conference on Unesco global geoparks

The International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks is the most important event of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network (GGN), held every 2 years, attracting the participation of managers, researchers, scientists, UNESCO global geoparks and aspiring geoparks worldwide. The 9^th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks was scheduled in 2020 but due to Covid-19 pandemic, the conference was postponed to 2021 and organized digitally.

The 9^th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks includes 15 scientific sessions with more than 140 presentations of different topics such as Popularizing Scientific Knowledge for public education; Geoparks, Sustainable Tourism and Sustainable Local Development; Mature Geoparks–sharing Successes and Challenges; Conservation, Science and Research; Geoparks, Climate Change and Geo-hazards; Regional and International UNESCO Global Geopark Collaborations; Aspiring Geoparks, etc.

Non nuoc Cao Bang actively participated in the Conference, contributed 3 presentations sharing activities on the conservation and promotion of the heritage in the geopark territory, especially introducing “community engagement” activities and conservation of embedded heritages of in Cao Bang province as a solution for the sustainable development approach to the tourism industry of Cao Bang; geopark education in schools, the effectiveness of the “geopark ambassador club” model and its contributions to the heritage conservation and promotion, environmental protection in Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark territory. Also, Non nuoc Cao Bang had a virtual booth to promote the geopark’s images.

In addition, within the framework of the 9^th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks, GGN General Assembly, to review outstanding achievements of the Network in phase 2018 – 2021, 2022-2023 action plan and elect new GGN Executive Board; APGN coordination committee meeting; UGGp Council meeting, GGN Advisory Committee meeting; Workshop on Education; the 1^st GGN Film Festival and the 1^st UNESCO Global Geoparks Youth Forum. At the 1^st Youth Forum, Le Thu Trang, the youth representative of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark cum the youth representative of Vietnam Geopark Network was voted to be the Vice-Chairperson of the Forum.
The conference also informed about the 10^th international conference. Accordingly, the 10^th International Conference will be held in M’Goun UGGp (Morocco, Africa) in 2023.
