Not only holds profound historical significance, Pac Bo also leaves a lasting impression with its tranquil, untouched landscape. The crystal-clear, cool Lenin Stream winding gracefully over moss-covered rocks, gliding gently beneath canopies to create a picturesque scenery, perfect for a relaxing summer escape. Visitors can leisurely stroll along the cobblestone path by the stream to explore historic relics such as Milestone 108, the place where President Ho fished, Coc Bo Cave, and the stone table where he worked. Leaving Pac Bo, visitors continue their journey to the Thang Hen Lake (Tra Linh Commune). The Thang Hen Lake complex is recorded as consisting of 36 lakes of different areas, each separated by several dozen to several hundred meters. Among them, Thang Hen is the largest, nearly 2,000 meters in length, 500 meters in width, and reaching a depth of up to 40 meters. The karst hydrologic characteristics in Thang Hen lake system are very special. In rainy season, there are vast emerald lakes. In the dry season, while most the lakes are dried out underground to create lush pasture. Thanks to this unique landscape, Thang Hen Lake is liken to an ideal “green oasis” in summer. The calm and crystal-clear lake all year round, surrounded by interleaving mountains and pristine vegetation, creating an airy and poetic atmosphere. At Thang Hen Lake, visitors can enjoy rowing, walking or camping on the lake, or simply relaxing and soaking in the freshness and comfort of the mountain atmosphere.
While Thang Hen Lake offers a sense of tranquility, Ban Gioc Waterfall (Dam Thuy Commune) overwhelms visitors with its majestic and refreshing beauty. Regarded as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Vietnam, Ban Gioc is the fourth largest waterfall in the world among those located along national borders, and once ranked among the top ten most magnificent waterfalls on the planet. From afar, the waterfall appears like a long white silky strip, cascading in cool misty spray amidst the vast mountains and forests. The roar of rushing water echoes through the forests, a gentle mist drifts in the air, bringing an instant feeling of freshness and delight upon arrival. Not far from Ban Gioc Waterfall lies Nguom Ngao Cave (Dam Thuy Commune) - one of the most magnificent and stunning caves in northern Vietnam. Stretching over 2,000 meters, the cave reveals a shimmering world of stalactites and stalagmites, formed over millions of years into countless magical shapes such as the Golden and Silver waterfalls, the sky-supporting pillar, the inverted lotus, and terraced fields, etc. Particularly notable is the cave’s year-round temperature, which remains a pleasant 18-20°C, making it an ideal retreat from the sweltering summer heat. For those with a passion for exploration, the nearly 3-kilometer Ban Thuon branch offers an unforgettable adventure, with unique experiences such as climbing over rock walls, crossing streams in the darkness, and discovering the untouched route.
If longing for exploring the nature, you cannot miss the Phia Oac - Phia Den National Park, a place where pristine beauty, cool climate, and a unique forest ecosystem converge. Spanning the communes of Thanh Cong, Tinh Tuc, Phan Thanh, and Tam Kim, Phia Oac - Phia Den National Park features a complex terrain of high mountains, narrow valleys, and steep slopes, with many peaks rising from over 1,000 meters to nearly 2,000 meters above sea level. Thanks to this topography, the park enjoys a pleasantly cool climate all year round, with summer temperatures ranging only from 16°C to 22°C.
