The extended area includes the total area of Cao Bang city and part of the districts of Thach An, Hoa An, and Quang Hoa. After the approval of the extension, Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark covers the entire administrative boundaries of Cao Bang city, the districts of Quang Hoa, Trung Khanh, Ha Lang and part of the districts of Hoa An, Ha Quang, Nguyen Binh and Thach An, with the total area of 3,683km2, contributing to the enhancement of the geopark’s potential and advantages.
Following the framework of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp area extension Dossier and the 4th experience route, in 2020, the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark cooperated with UNESCO experts and Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Minerals to conduct field survey and inspection, carry out additional researches, evaluation and ranking of the heritage in Cao Bang city and complete the dossier. The extension dossier was approved by the Provincial People’s Committee, departments, branches and the People’s Committee of the districts in the geopark territory.
Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark was established on December 22nd, 2015 under the Direction of the Provincial People’s Committee and recognized as a UGGp on April 12th 2018. The endorsement of the area extension dossier will bring positive effects and help diversify, and add more geomorphological, geological and cultural heritage to Cao Bang geopark, contributing to firmly moving the province towards sustainable development.
