The final round of the “Ambassador of Non nuoc Cao Bang Unesco Global Geopark”

There were representative leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Education and Training, Provincial propaganda and training commission, school-boards, and 20 excellent finalists (10 contestants from secondary schools and 10 contestants from high schools) who passed through the Semi-final to the final of the Contest.

The contest was launched on September 5th, 2021, on the occasion of the opening of the new school year and attracted the attention of schools, teachers, especially the support of secondary and high school students. The Organizing Committee received 87 submissions (67 from secondary schools, 20 from high schools) with a variety of creative forms such as composing poems, chants, songs, writing new lyrics for folk songs, painting, designing wall-newspaper, acting tour guide, making promotional clips about scenic spots, historical sites, and heritage values in the geopark territory.

Delivering his speech at the opening ceremony of the Final round, Mr. Truong The Vinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, cum Director of the Management Board of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Contest stated that “the “Ambassador of Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark” contest for secondary and high school students in the geopark territory is an activity in the framework of the geopark education in schools in 2021, which contributes to fostering the communication and promotion of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp. Through the Contest, the Organizing Committee expect that the contestants understand more about Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark in particular and Cao Bang province in general, and become excellent ambassadors to communicate about the Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark and spread the message “Join hands to preserve historical, traditional cultural values, protect natural environment and landscapes and develop a green, clean and worth-living Cao Bang to the public”.

In the Final rounds, the contestants had to complete 3 sections: Answering multiple-choice questions about the heritage values of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp, performing talents and answering the questions (1 question in Vietnamese and 1 question in English).

At the announcement of the results, Luong Ly Na, from Trung Khanh Ethnic minority boarding Secondary school won the “Ambassador of Non nuoc Cao BAng UNESCO global geopark” title for secondary students and the “Ambassador of Non nuoc Cao BAng UNESCO global geopark” title for high school students was awarded to Ly Thi Thu Thuy, from Thach An high school. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 04 second prizes, 06 third prizes, 08 consolidation prizes and 02 Favorite prizes for the contestants with the most votes on Facebook page of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark.

During its process, the contest received the attention of a large number of students and the public, through the impressive number of 17,234 Likes; 5098 Shares towards to Semi-final performances of the 20 finalists uploaded on Facebook of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark.

The contest is an activity to communicate and promote the title of Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark, help students understand more about historical, traditional cultural values, biodiversity, geological heritage, and natural landscapes. It is also an activity to help students improve their cultural and social knowledge, and provide them with soft skills to improve their study at school.
