Training on sustainable tourism development planning associated with Unesco Global Geopark in Quang Hoa district

Belonging to the eastern experience route of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark, Quang Hoa district possesses many important heritage sites and is the highlight of the experience route: Experience traditional culture in a wonderland. The district is known for many traditional craft villages such as Phja Thap incense village, tile village, Phuc Sern forging village, and poonah-paper making village. Especially, geological heritages including Ma Phuc Pass pillow basalt and The Thang Hen lake system are found here. However, besides the benefits, tourism activities have caused many problems that need to be addressed, especially the problems related to environmental sanitation, landscape destruction, service quality, etc. Therefore, in order to support the districts in Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark area to minimize negative effects of mass tourism activities, the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark has proposed the implementation of the sustainable tourism development plan in association with the development of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark.

The participants of the training course were provided the following information: the development of Non Nuoc Cao Bang UGGp; the implementation of sustainable tourism development strategy in the geopark territory; the booklet on guiding the implementation of sustainable tourism development strategy; tourism development vision of Cao Bang province for the period 2020-2025; Codes of conduction in tourism activities, operational guides of heritage management, protection and promotion; presentation skills at heritage sites in Non Nuoc Cao Bang UGGp area.
In the afternoon, the participants spent time discussing and practising the implementation of sustainable tourism development, and were guided to develop a participatory sustainable tourism development plan; the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in the implementation of the sustainable tourism development plan associated with the development of Non Nuoc Cao Bang UGGp.
