At the ceremony, Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, Tuyen Quang, Vietnam was honored to win “Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination 2025” from the World Travel Awards. This is one of the most prestigious categories of the WTA, recognizing destinations with outstanding achievements in preserving indigenous culture, promoting sustainable tourism, and protecting natural ecosystems. Previously, the former Ha Giang Province (Ha Giang Province was merged with Tuyen Quang Province to form current Tuyen Quang Province) was honored by the WTA as “Asia’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination 2023” and “Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination 2024.”

Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark was recognized as Vietnam’s first Global Geopark on October 1, 2010, and is one of the most distinctive and outstanding geological areas in Southeast Asia. Since then, the Geopark has undergone UNESCO’s revalidations in 2014, 2018, and 2022, consistently maintaining its title, thereby reaffirming Vietnam’s position and international reputation within the Global Geoparks Network.

Currently, Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark is a favorite destination among international travelers, especially adventure and exploration enthusiasts drawn to the famous “Ha Giang Loop.” Along this route, visitors experience breathtaking mountain passes, admire majestic natural scenery, and immerse themselves in the daily life of local highland communities.

“Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination 2025” award once again affirms Tuyen Quang’s position on the regional and international tourism map. It is also a worthy continuation of the series of honors the province has achieved in recent years. This recognition reflects the province’s strategic vision in transforming geological and cultural heritage values into drivers for green economic growth, sustainable tourism, and community livelihoods development.
