On December 1st, 2020, the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark participated in a mission led by Cao Bang Department of Construction to conduct a survey with the objective to evaluate the proposal concerning the building of ancillary works at Xum Lech limestone quarry - Phia Ga, Ban Moi hamlet, Kham Thanh commune, Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province.

On October 19th 2020, the Management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark cooperated with People’s committee of Thach An district organized the training course on Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark and sustainable tourism development plan for communities, tourism service providers and authority of Thach An district.

Workshop on launching the implementation of the sustainable tourism development practice booklets

On October 9th, Cao Bang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in association with Cao Bang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development organized the Workshop on launching the implementation of the Strategy, Vision and sustainable tourism development practice guideline, and propsed some sample tours. The workshop was attended by representatives of leaders of some departments, People's Committees of districts and tourism service providers in Cao Bang province.

From May, 25th, 2020 – June, 2nd, 2020, Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism cooperated with the People’s committees of Cao Bang city and dictricts in the Geopark area to conduct a field mission for the inventory and handover of the information pannels at the heritage sites to local authorities and communities to improve the management and promotion of heritage sites in Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark.

On 14th May2020, Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark management board, Culture, Sport and Tourism Department of Cao Bang province cooperated with the VIE036 project (which supported by Luxembourg Agency for Development cooperation) organized a Workshop on Sustainable Tourism Development. The Workshop was participated by representatives of Departments, People’s committee of Cao Bang city and districts, Tourism association, and tour operators.

Workshop on developing guidline for geopark education in school

On February 25th 2020, Department of Education and training cooperated with the Management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark to organize a workshop on developing Framework document and Guideline for geopark education through “Geopark discovery club in school”.Representative leaders of Department of Education and training, Management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark and teachers of subjects like English, biology, geography, literature and history from 3 lower secondary schools and 3 Upper secondary schools participated at the Workshop.

On February 18th 2020, People of People’s committee of Cao Bang province organized a summary meeting to review the progress on the development of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark 2019 and propose the Action plan 2020. Representative leaders of deparments and districts in geopark territory participated at the meeting. Mr. Hoang Xuan Anh, Chairman of People’s committee of Cao Bang province chaired the meeting.

Enhancement of Promoting the image of Cao Bang tourism through networking activities and events of GGN

UNESCO Global Geoparks are single, unified geographical areas where sites and landscapes of international geological significance are managed with a holistic concept of protection, education, and sustainable development. Their bottom-up approach of combining conservation with sustainable development while involving local communities is becoming increasingly popular. A UNESCO global geopark. There are four fundamental features to a UNESCO Global Geopark. These features are an absolute prerequisite for an area to become a UNESCO Global Geopark. (1) Geological heritage of international value; (2) Management: UNESCO Global Geoparks are managed by a body having legal existence recognized under national legislation; (3) Visibility: UNESCO Global Geoparks promote sustainable local economic development mainly through geotourism; (4) Networking: participating, organizing UNESCO global geopark activities.
