UNESCO global geopark video promotion production team in Cao Bang

From 17th -19th of november 2018, the video shooting team of UNESCO led by Prof. Min Huh, Director of geological preservation and research center- Chonnam National University, Director of Modungsan UGGp and MBC television conducted field survey and shot promotional video of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp.

Survey on direction panel positioning for heritage site in Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark

From November 2nd -4th 2018, the Management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark conducted survey to position the heritage direction panel in the geopark territory.

Comprehensive review mineral exploitation mines in Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark

On December 17th 2018, Department of Environment and Natural resources organized a meeting to collect feedbacks from related departments on the reviewed mineral exploitation mines in Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp. Representative leaders of departments and people’s committee of Tra Linh, Trung Khanh, Ha Lang, Quang Uyen, Phuc Hoa, Hoa An, Ha Quang attended the meeting; Mr. Nguyen Trung Thao, Vice Chairman of People’s committee of Cao Bang province chaired the meeting.

Main achievements of Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark in 2018 and 2019 focus

Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark was established under the Decision No 2498/QDD-UBND dated December 22nd 2015 of the People’s committee of Cao Bang province covering the territory of 6 districts namely Ha Quang, Tra Linh, Quang Uyen, Trung Khanh, Ha Lang, Phuc Hoa and parts of the territory of another 3 districts namely Hoa An, Nguyen Binh, and Thach An, with a total area of 3.072Km2. The geopark contains more than 130 geological sites and some of them have international significance. Since its establishment, the Geopark has been receiving enthusiastic supports from the Party committee, People’s council, People’s committee, and the Steering committee for the development of UGGp of Cao Bang as well as the cooperation from departments and districts. Particularly, in 2018, the Mangement board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp achieved remarkable results in the communication, public education and raising awareness, networking, international cooperation and infrastructure development in the Three experience routes of the geopark.

Promoting values in Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark for Sustainable tourism development

Located in the North of the country, Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark (UGGp) was established under the Decision No 2498/QDD-UBND dated December 22nd 2015 of the People’s committee of Cao Bang province covering the territory of 6 districts namely Ha Quang, Tra Linh, Quang Uyen, Trung Khanh, Ha Lang, Phuc Hoa and parts of the territory of another 3 districts namely Hoa An, Nguyen Binh, and Thach An, with a total area of 3.072Km2. The geopark contains more than 130 geological sites and some of them have international significance; about 200 caves, in which more than 30 caves have potentials for tourism service; a diverse fauna and flora system with rare and precious variety and species, some of them are listed in the red book of Viet Nam (2007); 34 famous genetic of animal and special plants; 09 special used forest conservation areas in which there are 06 protected landscape areas, 02 habitat and species management areas, and 01 national park. Especially, Ban gioc waterfall is ranked as the 4th largest waterfall lying on the border of the two countries by international magazines and Press, and the biggest natural waterfall in South east asisa.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR DISASTER REDUCTION 13 OCTOBER

The Global Geoparks Network (GGN), is a non-profit International Association officially established in 2014 subject to French legislation. The Global Geoparks Network is the official partner of UNESCO for the operation of the UNESCO Global Geoparks; serves to develop models of best practice and set quality-standards for territories that integrate the protection preservation of Earth heritage sites in a strategy for regional sustainable economic development. Networking and collaboration among Global Geoparks is an important component of the Global Geoparks Network. The Global Geoparks Network promotes networking on a regional basis.

The UNESCO expert delegate met with People’s committee of Cao Bang province

On August 9th 2018 the delegate of UNESCO experts led by Mr.Guy Martini, Senior advisor, Chairperson of UNESCO global geopark council met with People’s committee of Cao Bang province to brief on the preliminary result of the field survey on status of Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark.

Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark Education and training in Nguyen Binh district

On August 16th 2018, the Management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark, Department of Culture, sports and tourism cooperated People’s committee of Nguyen Binh district organized a communication and training on “raising awareness on Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark for local communities and authorities.

FRAMEWORK CONTRACT SIGNING CEREMONY BETWEEN CAO BANG PROVINCE AND VIETNAM INSTITUE OF GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES.

On October 14th 2018, at the Vietnam Institue of Geology and Mineral resources, Ministry of Enviroment and Natural resources, the Ceremony on Signing Framework contract to support the development of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark period 2018-2022 between People’s committee of Cao Bang province and Vietnam Institue of Geology and Mineral resources was organized.

The Provincial Steering committee (PSC) for the development of Cao Bang global geopark evaluated performance of the first 9 months and implement activity plan of last 3 months 2018

On october 8th 2018, the PSC for the development global geopark of Cao Bang met to evaluate the progress of the first 9 months and propose activity plan of the last 3 months 2018. Mr. Hoang Xuan Anh, Deputy secretary, Chairman of People’s committee of Cao Bang province, Chairman of the PSC chaired the meeting.

The delegate of Cao Bang province led by Mr. Lai Xuan Mon, member of the Member of Party Central Committee, Secretary of Cao Bang provincial Party committee, head of the delegate Cao Bang province to the National assembly paid a working visit to the Vietnam's Permanent Mission to the UN, Geneva, (Switzeland).

The delegation of Cao Bang attended the 8th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks

From the 8th- 14th September 2018 the delegate of Cao Bang province led by Mr. Lai Xuan Mon, member of the Member of Party Central Committee, Secretary of Cao Bang provincial Party committee, head of the delegate Cao Bang province to the National assembly attended the 8th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks in Italy.

CONSENATION AREAS IN NON NUOC CAO BANG GEOPARK

Apart from outstanding cultural, historical, landscapes and geological values of international significance, Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark possesses crucial biodiversity values in the region. Non nuoc Cao Bang geoaprk includes a well protected natural preservation area including 01 national park, 05 species and habitat conservation area, 5 landscape preservation areas, 01 wetland ecosystem and 02 biodiversity corridor. Most of these areas are located in the geopark territory.

2018 LIST OF NEW UNESCO GLOBAL GEOPARKS ENDORSED BY THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

Following the launch of the UNESCO Global Geoparks designation at the 38th session of the General Conference in November 2015, the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council convened its second statutory meeting during the 5th Asia Pacific Geoparks Network (APGN) Symposium 2017 in Zhijindong Cave UNESCO Global Geopark, in Guanzhai village, Zhijin county, Guizhou province, People’s Republic of China, on 16 and 17 September 2017. The UNESCO Global Geoparks Council examined a total of 17 applications submitted by Member States for the nominations of UNESCO Global Geoparks, including two deferred UNESCO Global Geopark applications from the 2016 UNESCO Global Geoparks meeting.

NON NUOC CAO BANG UNESCO GLOBAL GEOPARK ENHANCING GLOBAL GEOPARK NETWORKING RELATION

Strengthening the global geopark networking is one of important criteria for a UNESCO global geopark. Non nuoc Cao Bang has just been designated the title of Global geopark on April 12th 2018, therefore carrying out networking activities to learn and share experience from other geoparks is important for the development of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark in the future.

On May 28th 2018, the management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark met to review progress of 2017 and activity plan 2018.

The Upper Secondary school for the Gifted organized the Communication and education on Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark

Upon the implementation of the Plan No 63/KH-SVHTTDL-SGD&DT on communication and education on Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark. On May 18th 2018, the Upper Secondary School for the Gifted organized the Communication and education on Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark.

Summing-up and Awarding ceremony on the “Beautiful shots of non nuoc Cao Bang geopark and tourism of Cao Bang”

On July 9th 2018, the Management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark, Department of Cultures, Sports and tourism organize a Summing-up and Awarding ceremony on the first “Beautiful shots of non nuoc Cao Bang geopark and tourism of Cao Bang”. The event was participated by Mr. Trinh Huu Khang, Vice Chairman of People’s committee of Cao Bang province and leaders of Department of Culture, sports and tourism.
