The Provincial Steering committee (PSC) for the development of Cao Bang global geopark evaluated performance of the first five months and activity plan of last seven months 2018

From the beginning of the year till now, the province has instructed departments and districts related to the development of the geopark to carry out activites to meet criteria of UNESCO, particularly the 6 recommendation of UNESCO, after Non nuoc Cao Bang was designed the label of UNESCO global geopark.

Specifically, the province has developed the proposal on installing the promotion letters of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark at cliff of Ma Phuc pass; Surveyed and proposed solutions to update the promotion panels of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark such as Information panel, A/E, PIGP, GP and sign boards in the three routes of the geopark; Surveyed and agreed with People’s committee of Tra Linh district on the construction and renovation method for the access road to the Mountain angle eye heritage site, Nam Cha, Quoc Toan, Tra Linh district; and agreed with the proposal on protection of the Luong Luong amonite fossil heritage site, Keo Yen commune, Ha Quang district. 

In terms of communication and promotion of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark, about 150 public officers and workers employed by local service providers in the provinces were briefed and learnt about the geopark, 55 public officers of Office of Culture and Information of districts were trained on guiding tour skill; developed IEC material on geopark to be used in school; cooperated with NATCOM in preparing the press release material on promotion of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark and the lable of UNESCO global geopark; organized a Press conference on the designation of UNESCO global geopark to Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark.

For international networking activities: participated at the 204^th meeting session of the Executive board of UNESCO; worked and Signed an MoA with Haunte Provence UNESCO global geopark, France. Developed two presentation abstracts on Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark and sent to the organization committee of the 8^th Global geopark Conference in Itali.

For the last 7 months of 2018, the PSC for the development of geopark is going to cooperate with related agencies to complete the logo design for Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark; prepare to welcome the UNESCO consultant to Cao Bang and agree on the service contract on the support for the development of Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark phase II.  Developed working schedule of the province to participate the 8^th UNESCO global geopark in Italia and Promote images of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark at the Conference in September 2018; Develop the agenda of the International Conference on sustainable tourism development through geopark model, Ceremony on the designation of UNESCO global geopark to Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark at the beginning November 2018.

In his concluding remarks at the meeting, Chairman of People’s committee of Cao Bang province Mr. Hoang Xuan Anh said instructed that related departments and districts had to cooperate closely with each other in updating the promotion and information panels of the geopark; documentation of indigenous knowledge and stories. Inventory and develop the tourists’ sites under Public private partnership and mobilize private enterprise’s investment into tourist destinations, especially the Phja Oac and Phja Den area; cooperate with the Management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark in budgeting and budget complementation; complete the training material to be used in schools; develop detailed plan on implementation and management of tourist sites.
