Digital meeting on possibilities to establish sistership relation and preparation for student workshop on geopark education activities between Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGP (Vietnam) and Khorat Aspiring Geopark (Thailand)

There were the representative managers, member staffs of the two geparks, teachers of some schools in Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark territory (Vietnam) and Geo-schools in Khorat geopark area (Thaland) attending the meeting.

At the meting, Mr. Vi Tran Thuy presented about the possibilities and opportunities to set up the strategic partnership between the two geoparks. Mr. Vi Tran Thuy stated that, there were many favorable conditions for the partnership including convenient geographical distance and socio-economic similarities. He also proposed possible aspects to cooperate and exchange between the two geoparks such as: exchanges of scientific, technical and environmental information and materials; joint promotion of public relation activities, environmental initiatives,  reciprocal visits and exchange of managers or team, geopark partners, students’ summer camp, education initiatives and sustainable tourism. Moreover, he hoped that the cooperation between the two geoparks would become a bridge to strengthen the collaboration between the two localities to foster the friendship and experience sharing in the development of tourism destinations, tourism market and socio-economic activities.

In the discussion on the sistership establishment, Khorat Geopark (Thailand) expressed their complete agreement with the proposals of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp. Mr. Pratueng Jintaskul, Director of Khorat Geopark highly applauded the proposals of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp. He said that the proposals covered all aspects of the possible cooperation between the two geoparks and believed in the successful collaboration in future. These are the issues that Khorat Geopark is trying to promote for the development of Khorat Geoopark and strengthen the relation between the two sides through this collaboration. 

In addition, at the meeting, the members of the two geoparks shared some noticeable activities related to the implementation of geopark education in schools. Ms. Ly Thi Thu Thuy, member staff of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp, responsible for the geopark education, presented about the geopark education in schools through “Geopark ambassador club” model. Ms. Kano Kwan, teacher of Thachangratbomroong Geo-school (Thailand) presented about geopark education activities at Thachangratbomroong Geo-school.

The members of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp, Khorat Aspiring Geopark and teachers involved in the meeting also spent time discussing and agreed on the preparations regarding contents, format and agenda for the Student Workshop on sharing geopark education activities with the participation of teachers and students of the two geoparks, which is scheduled in July 2021.
