The Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp participated in a digital meeting on sharing experience with some geoparks in Vietnam

On April 5th, 2022, the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp attended an online exchange among Dong Van Karst Plateau UGGp, Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp and Lang Son geopark with the purpose of sharing experience in developing Geopark; exchange issues of the cooperation agreement on joining activities of the Vietnam Geoparks Network.

Overivew of the meeting

There were Mr. Trinh Hai Son, Head of the Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Tan Van, senior expert, Coordinator of Vietnam Geoparks Network, representative leaders and staff members of the 3 Geopark Management Boards.

At the meeting, the representative of Lang Son Geopark Management Board briefly introduced about Lang Son Geopark and activities implemented since Lang Son Geopark was established in December 2021; and suggested the UNESCO global geoparks in the Vietnam geoparks network to share their experience in the geopark development and generating application dossier for the UNESCO Global Geopark label.

Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp and Dong Van Karst Plateau UGGp hared experiences in preparing application dossier; activities and programs carried out in the early phase of the geoparks, some outstanding achievements such as implementation of authority and local participatory activities, geopark education in schools and sustainable tourism development.
In the framework of meeting, the Geoparks spent time on discussing the issues related to the cooperation agreement signed among the 3 geoparks in the coming time in order to strengthen the effectiveness of UNESCO global geopark program for the sustainable development. The cooperation agreement includes scientific information and techniques sharing, mutual promotion, cooperation in planning and implementing jointly projects, organizing and participating in domestic and international events and programs to promote geotourism products.
After the meeting, the issues of the cooperation agreement were agreed on and will be signed in the coming time.
