Youth representative of Viet Nam Geopark network elected to become vice chairperson of the UNESCO global geoparks youth forum

The UNESCO Global Geoparks Youth Forum is an activity within the framework of the 9^th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks, taking place from December 12^th to December 16^th in Jeju Island UGGp, Republic of Korea. Due to the impact of Covid-19 pandemic, the conference was organized digitally.

The UNESCO Global Geoparks Youth Forum is initiative of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN). With the UNESCO Global Geoparks Youth Forum, UNESCO and GGN seek a platform to fully engage with young people so that they can support the management of the sites in a meaningful and participatory manner, to use their unique ways of communication, and support their drive to make a future for themselves. The Forum will also have a permanent advisory role, to assure that the young people have a voice in the overall strategy, branding and management of the UNESCO Global Geoparks and GGN.

As Vice President of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Youth Forum, Le Thu Trang will take on a office term of 4 years, assisting the Chairperson in overseeing the Forum's activities and participating in GGN Executive Board’s meeting when needed.

Before this, Le Thu Trang had represented Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGP to take part in the National round of the “Selecting representative to participate in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Youth Forum” contest organized by the Sub-committee for Vietnam UNESCO global geoparks, Viet Nam National Commission for UNESCO, and became the official representative of Vietnam to the 1^st UNESCO Global Geoparks Youth Forum.
