Cao Bang to host the 8th Asia Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium in 2024

APGN Symposium is held every 2 years in the Asia Pacific countries hosting UNESCO Global Geoparks to share and exchange experiences in the operation and development of geoparks in line with UNESCO criteria. Attendees include representatives of geoparks around the world, experts, scientists, lecturers, managers, about 800 participants are from oversea. Within the framework of the symposium, workshops, cultural and art performances, geofair introducing the unique local tourism images and cultures are organized.

Seeing that hosting the Symposium will be a good opportunity for Cao Bang to exchange experience in the operation and development of UNESCO Global Geopark model with other countries las well as promote the image of Cao Bang, the People's Committee of Cao Bang province directed Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark) to prepare a strong candidature dossier showing the exceptional featured and combined strength of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, infrastructure system and capacity in organizing international level events.

On September 6^th, 2022, Cao Bang Provincial Delegation attended the meetings of APGN Advisory Committee and APGN Coordinator Committee and directly presented the candidature dossier on hosting the 8^th APGN Symposium in Cao Bang in 2024. The dossier received consensus and high appreciation of APGN AC members for the thorough preparation and capacity of Cao Bang province. 100% of APGN AC agreed to select Cao Bang province as the host of the 8^th APGN Symposium in 2024. On September 10^th, in the Closing Ceremony, the APGN Symposium flag transfer from Satun province to Cao Bang province took place, Cao Bang officially became the host of the 8^th APGN Symposium in 2024.
