This competition was organized in the collaboration between the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and the Department of Education and Training in Geopark education in schools. Over a month of launching from October 15 to November 25, 2022, the competition drew an enthusiastic respond from secondary and high school students, 66 projects/initiatives under various forms such as essays, models, appliances, posters and pictures, etc. were submitted. The competition consists of a preliminary round and a final round. The awarding ceremony was organized on December 7, 2022, at the Central Culture Hall of Cao Bang province. The First prize in the secondary school was awarded to Le Nhat Hoang and Hoang Duc Thanh from Hoang Tung Secondary School, Hoa An district with the initiative “convenient toilet flushing system”; the First prize in Highschool was awarded to Phuong Van Suong, a student of Dam Quang Trung Highschool, Ha Quang district with the initiative “environmental protection stone tower”. The Organizing Committee awarded 04 Secondary prizes, 06 Third prizes, 08 Consolidation prizes and 2 “most voted initiative” prizes. The completion received the attention and support from students and the public, with an impressive number of 104,750 interactions counted for 20 final initiatives posted on the fan page of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark.
Based on their research, the contestants came up with impressive initiative applicable for school and community such as Automatic garbage collection device on smooth water surface of Hop Giang Secondary school; environmentally friendly incinerator for waste treatment at Nguyen Binh High School; Many initiatives were supported by the school boards and put into practice such as convenient toilet flushing system; “environmental protection stone tower" of Dam Quang Trung High School, Ha Quang. In general, all the contestants understood the concept of the competion and environmental protection properly with simple yet effective activities carried out at households or schools such as recycling organic waste into compost, reducing the use of plastic bags, recycling plastic, etc. In spite of taking place in a short time, the competition received enthusiastic responds and participation of a large number of students, particularly, students from remote schools such as Duc Hanh Primary & Secondary School, Bao Lam district.
The competition received the attention and support of student parents, teachers and school boards. Members of the Organizing Committee and the Board of Judges are from related Departments: Science and Technology, Natural Resources and Environment, the Provincial Science and Technology Association, the Protection of Nature and Environment Association, Cao Bang Television Broadcast, bodies of the Department of Education and Training and Department of Cultures, Sport and Tourism. The competition also received the support from the Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Partner Network.
