Global Geoparks Network: Driving Action for Sustainable Development Goals  

Through concrete actions and extensive international cooperation, the Global Geoparks Network continues to affirm its role as a model for harmonizing heritage conservation with sustainable socio-economic development. In doing so, it makes a practical contribution to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Final Round of the “Preserving the Tay and Nung Languages for Secondary and High School Students in the Geopark Region” Contest

On May 29, 2025, at the Cao Bang Provincial Cultural Center, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Department of Education and Training, held the final round and award ceremony of the contest titled “Preserving the Tay and Nung Languages for Secondary and High School Students in the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Region.”

Field survey and assessment of experiential tourism routes in preparation for the second revalidation of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark.

From May 18 to 20, a delegation of experts from the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network conducted a field survey and assessment of the experiential tourism routes of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark. The activity aimed to support the consultation, development, and enhancement of the Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark in 2025, while also contributing effectively to the preparation for the second revalidation of the Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark .

Training session for students of the "Geopark Ambassador" Club to support the revalidation of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark in 2025

On May 26, the Management Board of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark organized a training session on skills and task orientation for 30 students from the "Geopark Ambassador" Club of Cao Bang Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities. The training aimed to prepare them for supporting the second revalidation of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark, scheduled to take place in June 2025.

UNESCO Global Geoparks Network Experts Work with Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee in Preparation for Revalidation of UNESCO Global Geopark in 2025

On the morning of May 21, 2025, a delegation of experts from the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network, led by Mr. Guy Martini – Senior Advisor and Secretary-General of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council – held a working session with the Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee to discuss key preparations for the second revalidation of the UNESCO Global Geopark . Also in attendance were Associate Professor Dr. Tran Tan Van, member of the Advisory Council of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network for the Asia–Pacific region and former Director of the Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources; and Ms. Do Thi Yen Ngoc, former Director of the Karst and Geohazard Center under the same institute.

Eight Teams Advanced to the Final Round of the “Preserving the Tay and Nung Languages” Contest for Secondary and High School Students in the Geopark Region

On May 20, 2025, the Organizing Committee of the “Preserving the Tày and Nùng Languages for Secondary and High School Students in the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Region” held the Semifinal Round at the Cao Bang Provincial Cultural Center, featuring the participation of 12 competing teams.

Field Survey on Sustainable Development and Disaster Risk Reduction

. On May 20, 2025, the Management Board of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark conducted a field survey in Khuoi Ngoa hamlet, Ca Thanh commune (Nguyen Binh district), focusing on sustainable development in connection with disaster risk reduction and geological hazard mitigation for local communities in vulnerable areas within the geopark region.

On May 19, 2025, the Management Board of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark organized a training workshop on sustainable development and disaster risk reduction for local communities in vulnerable areas within the geopark region.

Announcement of the opening of the Cao Bang (Vietnam) – Baise (China) tourism route and vice versa.

On the evening of May 16, at the Kim Dong Walking Street (in the city), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST)) organized a program to announce the opening of the Cao Bang City (Vietnam) – Baise City (China) cross-border tourism route under the theme “Mountains and rivers united, traveling across borders together.” The event aims to promote cross-border tourism while creating opportunities to connect and strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.

Promoting the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark at the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship in the United States.

From May 5 to 14, 2025, Robotics Team 11 from Cao Bang High School for the Gifted participated in the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas, USA. On this occasion, the team also took the opportunity to promote the image of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark to international friends.

The Management Board of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark held an online meeting with the Management Board of Linyi–Fengshan Geopark (China).

On May 13, the Management Board of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark participated in an online meeting with the Management Board of the Linyi–Fengshan (China) UNESCO Global Geopark. The meeting was part of international cooperation activities aimed at strengthening friendly relations, sharing management experiences, and promoting sustainable development between the two geoparks.

Representative of Management Board of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark participated in the revalidation of Idrija UNESCO Global Geopark

From May 5 to 9, a representative of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Management Board participated in the revalidation mission for Idrija UNESCO Global Geopark (Slovenia). This is a regular four-year revalidation activity conducted by UNESCO to assess the effectiveness of the management, conservation, and promotion of heritage values at UNESCO Global Geoparks.

In response to the 6th Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network (APGN) Week (April 22–28, 2025) themed “Celebrating Earth Heritage and Strengthening Connectivity,” Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark has organized a series of meaningful activities aimed at raising community awareness about heritage conservation in connection with sustainable development in the region.

Our efforts focus on preserving and promoting this traditional craft while enhancing community benefit-sharing initiatives aligned with sustainable development, harmony with nature and local cultural identity.
