There were senior advisor, UNESCO Global Geopark Council Chair, Guy Martini, Head of the Vietnam Institution of Geosciences and Mineral Resources cum Head of the Sub-committee for Vietnam UNESCO global geoparks Trinh Hai Son, Prof.Dr Tran Tan Van, Senior Research Scientist, the Vietnam Institution of Geosciences and Mineral Resources, member of UNESCO Global Geopark Council, experts from the Vietnam Institution of Geosciences and Mineral Resources, and representatives of UGGps: Non nuoc Cao Bang, Dong Van Karst Plateau and Dak Nong and Lang Son Geopark as well as official partners of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp.
The following information was presented at the workshop: UNESCO Global Geopark concept, philosophy, criteria, focus areas, and adaptation in the new context; the role of Geopark in the local socio-economic development and good practices, effective models in the progress of the Dong Van Karst Plateau UGGp; Experiences in the implementation of the environmental protection activities associated with sustainable development in Dak Nong UGGp; Some achievements and experience in geopark education in Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp and the focused activities of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp’s program in 2022.
This workshop, within the framework of the Annual Meeting of the Sub-committee for the Vietnamese UNESCO Global Geoparks, is organized to train the staff members of the UGGp and geopark in Vietnam and improve their capacity in geopark management and operation, strengthen the networking and experience sharing among geoparks, thereby promote the effectiveness of geopark model in the heritage preservation and sustainable socio-economic development. Before the workshop, the participants followed a field visiting trip to 03 experience routes in Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp from May 23rd to May 25th.
Also on this occasion, the UNESCO Global Geopark Council experts awarded the certificates recognizing the Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp’s partnership program to 35 official partners of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp.
