Exploring the stunning cave of Nguom Ngao

Nguom Ngao, or “Tiger cave” in the Tay language, is a precious gift blessed by nature to Cao Bang. The cave is more than 2,000 m long in total and has 3 main entrances: Nguom Ngao, Nguom Lom and Ban Thuon. According to scientists, this karst cave was formed about 400 million years ago. The cave is surrounded by peak cluster-depression karst terrain located on a planation surface at an altitude of 400-600m asl, with many hanging valleys and sinkholes.

The color of speleothems in this cave is different from those in other caves due to the high impurity content in calci. In the cave, there are a variety of stalactites, stalagmites, pillars, curtains…of many shapes such as coral, ships, gold and silver cascades, an upturned lotus, single rock pillars or terraced paddy field. It is overwhelming to get in the cave and face a spacious section with a speleothem system of all shapes and sizes with the reflected shimming and magical light.

All the things have been created by nature, from stalactites and stalagmites without any interference of human, yet beautiful and charming. Currently, Nguom Ngao cave is an ideal destination attracting a great number of domestic and international visitors.
