Attending the training course, the teachers and students of “Geopark abassador club” of 3 High schools and 3 Secondary schools were provided with general information of Non nuoc Cao Bang geopark and guided to manage and operate the club model, learnt about a participatory club activity implementation plan, contents and skills to organize communication activitities as well as use social media to propagate the geopark and practiced planning propaganda actitities for the geopark.
“Geopark ambassador club” model is piloted in 6 schools ( 3 secondary schools and 3 high schools in Cao Bang city). Each club has 15 to 20 students with passion on exploring culture, history, geology, having English competence and is guided by 2 or 3 teachers. This activity aims at assisting a group of students to explore the geopark with the guidance and support from their teachers and Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Management Board. In addition, members of “Geopark ambassador club” and other students have opportunities to participate in field learning trips, which can help improve the scientific and social knowledge they learn in school and help them connect the theories with realities.
After the training course, the “Geopark ambassador club” of 6 piloted schools will develop a field learning trip plan at heritage sites as well as a plan to implement propaganda activities about the geopark at their schools.
Basing on document research, combined with field learning trip experience and with the guidance of teachers and the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, the students will organize propaganda activities such as making newsletters, designing wall-newspaper, writing articles, organizing competitions, making clips, organizing performances and extracurricular activities, etc to introduce the geopark’s heritage values to other students.
