At the meeting, Mr. Hoang Xuan Anh expressed his pleasure and excitement at welcoming the delegation to participate in the Symposium. The presence of the delegates is of utmost importance and determines the success of the Symposium. The Head of the Symposium Organizing Committee provided additional information that the 8th Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium held in Cao Bang province with over 800 delegates participating, including more than 400 international delegates with cultural, religious and linguistic diversity. To ensure a thorough and respectful organization of the Symposium, Cao Bang province has coordinated with the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO - Ministry of Foreign Affairs to gather experienced personnel in organizing international events. Additionally, the Organizing Committee has meticulously prepared reception, logistics, and ceremony; security and social order plans; and developed a general script and detailed scripts for activities within the Symposium’s framework. Affirm that, this event is extremely important not only for Cao Bang province but also for the entire country of Vietnam.
Hosting the 8th APGN Conference affirms the determination of Cao Bang province in building and developing the Cao Bang tourism brand according to UNESCO criteria; a commitment to preserving and promoting the values of heritage for sustainable development, while demonstrating that Cao Bang is always ready and proactive in participating in the activities of the Global Geoparks Network and international cooperation. This is also an opportunity for the province to continue learning and sharing experiences in the construction and development of the geopark model with countries around the world; to raise public awareness about the preservation and promotion of the value of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, and to spread the beautiful values of Cao Bang's culture and people to the world. This will certainly serve as a momentum to promote and enhance the value of the Cao Bang tourism brand. Consequently, it will contribute to accelerating the implementation of breakthrough content regarding sustainable tourism and service development for the period of 2021-2025, opening up new opportunities and gradually making tourism a key economic sector of the locality.
Speaking at the courtesy meeting, Mr. Nickolas Zouros, President of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network, representing the delegation, expressed confidence in the host's preparations, especially for the meetings of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council and the Executive Board. He acknowledged the support of Cao Bang province in accompanying the Geoparks Network to build a strong local community, oriented towards development in line with UNESCO's sustainable goals.
