At the celebration program, delegates reviewed the traditions and achievements of 64 years of establishment and growth of Vietnam's tourism industry, the process of establishment, and the development of the Cao Bang tourism industry. Along with the development of tourism nationwide, in recent years, Cao Bang tourism has made encouraging progress, achieving and maintaining a fairly high growth rate, with increasingly clear socio-economic efficiency, especially creating opportunities for ethnic minorities to participate in livelihoods, and preserve and promote cultural heritage values.
The whole province has over 300 tourist accommodation establishments with over 3,100 rooms and about 5,300 beds, and 6,500 workers working in the tourism industry. State management of tourism has been consolidated and strengthened. In 2000, the number of tourists only reached over 10,000, by 2023 it will reach over 1,900,000. Total tourism revenue in 2010 reached 49.2 billion VND, in 2023 it was 1,334 billion VND, an increase of 27 times.
In the first 6 months of 2024, the total number of tourists reached 1 million, an increase of nearly 11% over the same period. Cao Bang was voted in the top 10 friendliest destinations in Vietnam in 2024 by the online booking platform Booking.com. Ban Gioc Waterfall is the only representative of Vietnam to be voted by the International Travel Magazine as one of the 21 most beautiful waterfalls in the world. This is a sign that Cao Bang tourism is developing strongly, creating excitement and confidence that the industry will achieve the set goals for the period 2021 - 2025; at the same time, affirming that Cao Bang tourism is worthy of being a safe, friendly, and attractive destination.
On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched and approved the rules of the contest to create a logo and slogan for Cao Bang tourism. The slogan needs to be concise, fresh, conveying beautiful impressions about the culture, history, nature and people of Cao Bang with a length of no more than 8 words. Contestants are all Vietnamese citizens. The prize structure, each category includes 10 prizes, the first prize for logo is 50 million VND, the first prize for slogan is 15 million VND. The deadline for receiving products to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is November 15, 2024.
