There were representative of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the People’s Committees of Quang Hoa District, Trung Khanh District, Quoc Toan Commune, Phuc Sen Commune (Quang Hoa District) and Cao Chuong Commune (Trung Khanh District) participating in the survey.
During the field survey and onsite discussion, the delegation basically examined a number of problems at facing the management of Mountain Angel Eye at the moment: environmental pollution, natural landscape impacted by littering of a number of visitors who have low awareness of environmental issues, unmanaged tourism-service activities such as camping, food and beverage selling, uncontrolled collection of visiting fee and parking fee, narrow and degraded road to the geosite, inadequate parking lot.
The delegation also came to agreement on the following baseline solutions for the management and optimization of Mountain Angel Eye geosite: suggesting the establishment of a Management Board for Mountain Angel Eye geosite with the participation of the People’s Committees of Quang Hoa and Trung Khanh Districts to direct the protection and promotion of Mountain Angel Eye national scenic spot; Building a new parking lot at suitable place, motivating local people to participate in the building of the parking lot and benefit from parking fee collection; upgrading the walking trail from the main road to Ban Danh valley and Mountain Angel Eye, widening sections for a safe separation distance for vehicles travelling in opposite directions; defining zone for service activities such as camping and vendor stands, etc. complying with regulations of Cultural Heritage Law, UNESCO experts’ recommendations and surrounding landscape; defining a place for waste collection and onsite treatment.
After this field survey, a meeting between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People’s Committees of Quang Hoa and Trung Khanh Districts will be organized to reach an agreement on the solutions and submit the Provincial People’s Committee for direction on the implementation of activities on protection and promotion of the Geosite matching with criteria and recommendations of UNESCO experts.
