Mr. Guy Martini, Senior Advisor, Chairperson of UNESCO Global Geoparks Council and representatives of the Districts of Meo Vac, Bao Lac and Bao Lam participated in the survey.
The field survey aimed at evaluating values, current conditions of geological, cultural, biodiversity sites and infrastructure system for tourism development, etc. expected to be included in the route. According to the results of the field survey and detailed evaluation of selected geosites, the team will compile a report to submit capable authorities for final assessment for the development of the 5th route connecting the two Geoparks.
In Cao Bang Province, the team conducted a field survey at the following sites: Coffee Stop River View, Bao Lac town, Quan Thanh De Temple, The Nong’s mansion, Ban Phuong view, Khau Coc Cha Pass, Thom Lom lake, view point and coral fossil, Karst landscape in Can Nong Commune and Cao Bang city.
The 5th route is highly evaluated by the UNESCO expert and the survey team. The route consists of rich geological and cultural sites and heritages of all types suitable for developing the experiential route, attract tourists and create livelihood for local population, promoting the tourism potential of Bao Lac town and Xuan Truong Commune.
On August 18th, the expert met with the Provincial People’s Committee on the progress of the preparation for the 8th Asia Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium in Cao Bang in 2024 and primarily field survey of the 5th route connecting Non nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark and Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark.
