Training workshop on the management of Mountain Angel Eye National scenic spot

At the workshop, the participants were introduced about Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, the development process of the Geopark; guided  on the management of Mountain Angel national scenic spot, ensuring environmental issues, natural landscape, improving local livelihood and engaging the local population in the site management according to the UNESCO experts’ recommendations after the revalidation; the participants were also guided on sustainable tourism development activities with the involvement of local population, authorities and related agencies, and the establishment of a Cooperative with the participation of the villagers of Ban Danh hamlet for the purpose of benefit sharing in the community.
 

After listening to the presentation of the Geopark Management Board, more than 80 people who are representatives of households in the hamlet spent time discussing the issues related to participatory management of the site, orientation on sustainable and equal tourism development and benefit sharing in the community.
 

Mountain Angel Eye is a spectacular landscape, a mountain with a hole of 50m in diameter from one side to the other side. In 2021, Mountain Angel Eye was regconized as a national scenic spot by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. However, recently, there have been a number of visitors carrying out such activities as stand-up paddling, camping, cycling, etc. at Mountain Angel Eye site without entrance fee (buying tickets) and are not subject to the control of any organizations or authorities on complying with regulations on natural protection, environmental protection and activities detracting from natural beauty. There is also the likelihood of traffic congestion, unsafe for travellers.   
 

Therefore, the training workshop aims at raising awareness and responsibility of the villagers of Ban Danh hamlet in the management and optimization of geosite and involvement in the development of the Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark; at the same time carrying recommendations of UNESCO Global Geoparks Council regarding the plan on the development of Non nuoc Cao Bang Geopark in the phase of 2022-2025.
