Rewarding 17 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in organizing the 8th Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium

On November 7, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to summarize the 8th UNESCO Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium (APGN) in 2024 in Cao Bang province. Mr. Hoang Xuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee chaired the meeting

Attending the meeting were Mr. Be Thanh Tinh, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Mr.Trinh Truong Huy, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Sam Viet An, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and members of the Conference Organizing Committee; collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in organizing the Symposium.
At the meeting, delegates exchanged and discussed the draft Report on the Organization of the 8th APGN Symposium and related contents: reception, logistics, and ceremonies; financial work; activities taking place in parallel and on the sidelines of the conference; communication work; security, order, and health care work... In addition to acknowledging the positive results achieved, delegates pointed out some limitations that need to be improved, lessons learned in organizing future events, especially coordination between units and localities, ensuring convenience and professionalism in reception and logistics activities to welcome delegates.

The 8th APGN Symposium was successfully held, ensuring the correct foreign policy of the Party and State of Vietnam, achieving the set goals. The conference left a good impression on domestic and foreign delegates, contributing to promoting the tourism potential, land and people of Cao Bang in particular, Vietnam in general, opening up future cooperation opportunities; at the same time, raising awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and local ethnic groups in preserving and promoting the values of heritage types for sustainable tourism development. Demonstrating the positivity and proactiveness of Cao Bang in particular, Vietnam in general in international cooperation activities.
Mr. Trinh Truong Huy, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the meeting.
At the Symposium, many cooperation agreements were signed. In particular, the "Cao Bang Declaration" issued at the Symposium contributed to affirming Vietnam's strong commitment and role in UNESCO's activities, activities towards the implementation of the United Nations' sustainable development goals. The Symposium witnessed the active and responsible participation of leaders of relevant agencies and units of Cao Bang province, demonstrating the local determination in promoting the title of UNESCO Global Geopark, towards the goal of sustainable development.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr.Hoang Xuan Anh acknowledged the efforts of the members of the Organizing Committee, departments, offices and localities in proactively and actively implementing the preparation work for the Conference. He requested the Department of Finance and related units to coordinate in completing the procedures for submitting to the State budget for fees and charges within the framework of the Symposium; the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism shall take the lead in advising and implementing cooperation activities with global geoparks that have signed the Memorandum of Understanding on establishing cooperative relations and advising the Provincial People's Committee to prepare the necessary conditions to prepare progress reports and procedural documents to serve the re-evaluation of the title of UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark for the second time according to the announcement of the Global Geopark Network (expected in 2025). Press agencies continue to focus on widely promoting the positive results at the Symposium thereby promoting the potential and values of tourism, culture, and geological science of the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark to domestic and international friends.
