Partners are essential to the construction and development of the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark. In the past 4 years, the Geopark Management Board coordinated with departments, units, and localities to focus on establishing and expanding the partnership system. Enhance the role and responsibility in promoting brand, focusing on reputation and quality of products and services, meeting the needs of tourists. Now, the whole province has 45 Geopark partners. Geopark partners are advised and supported in preserving traditional craft villages associated with tourism development and improving people's livelihoods; introducing and promoting products on media platforms, tourism events, domestic and regional Geopark network events...
Participating in the partner system means that partner units have placed themselves in a higher position and have guaranteed Geopark’s product brand. Therefore, partner units must commit to stable quality, price, and service; strictly implement the criteria and standards according to the licensed business field. Ensuring professionalism and fair, healthy, scientific, and civilized competition; having connections and helping each other to increase business and service activities; contributing to bringing cultural, historical beauty, and geological, geomorphological heritage values of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark closer to tourists.
In addition to training programs, cultivating knowledge and internal tours, the Geopark Management Board organizes field trips to other provinces to expand thinking, create new ideas, and new motivation for tourism workers. In 2022, Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark partners were surveyed and learned from experience in implementing integrated tourism activities, sharing benefits in the community associated with environmental protection at partner facilities of Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark (Ha Giang). Through the program, initially create a foundation for connection activities between two geoparks; contributing to implementing the criteria for geoparks on enhancing cooperation and exchange between UNESCO Global Geoparks, developing a quality partners network in sustainable tourism development associated with preserving heritage values in Geopark area.
In 2023, the Non Nuoc Cao Bang Management Board has continued to bring partners that are restaurant, hotel, homestay owners, travel agencies, and residents in craft villages… to participate in experiential learning in Hanoi and Hoa Binh. Visit the Do paper village in Cao Son commune, Luong Son district (Hoa Binh), partner members were taught by artisan Nguyen Xuan Chuc about quality paper production techniques and how to make large-sized paper. Mr. Nong Van Thanh in Dia Tren village, Phuc Sen commune (Quang Hoa) shared: We practiced making Do paper and discussed how to make crafts in our village. Compared to the Do paper products here, the quality is similar, but the paper size of the Dia Tren version is much smaller.
In April 2024, Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Management Board also organized an experiential learning activity on the preservation of traditional craft villages associated with sustainable tourism development and community tourism for nearly 50 geopark partner representatives and residents living at Non Nuoc Cao Bang heritage sites in Lai Chau and Lao Cai provinces. The group learned about experiences at heritage sites: Sin Suoi Ho community tourism village (Lai Chau), Lao Chai 1 village (Lao Cai), and Nghia Do community tourism village (Lao Cai)... At experiential learning places, geopark partner representatives and residents can exchange and share experiences with the management board of community tourism villages on preserving and promoting cultural values associated with sustainable tourism development goals; learning about implementing community sharing benefit activities, dealing with and protecting traditional cultural spaces; propaganda and promotion locally tourism; environmental protection work and waste treatment; welcome tourist skills, share experiences on diversifying traditional handicraft products to contribute improve the livelihoods of local people…
According to the plan, each year, Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Management Board will organize at least one experiential learning trip in other provinces, strengthening connections between residents and tourism business units outside the province. In 2024, Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark Management Board plans to develop a training program for some traditional craft villages, community tourism villages, cooperatives, and traditional handicraft production and business establishments in Lai Chau and Lao Cai on the preserving traditional craft villages and promoting community tourism villages to contributing sustainable tourism and promoting the heritage value of UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark.
